HEAVY HITTERS
Every so often, I get hung up on drawing cowboys and boxers, though not usually together. With both it has to do with the shapes. These sketches are from last year.
Stylization Vs. Observation
Here's an example of pushing not only the pose, but also the proportions of the model. Marissa's an amazing model, but she's not quite as elongated as she is in these quick sketches. I try to mix the amounts of stylization and observation -- never wanting to end up with a result that's so purely cartoonish that there's no point in using a live model.
